Why Use a Custom Picasa Gallery?

I built this custom gallery out of necessity. I love Picasa, but disliked the fact that there wasn’t really any way to customize my PicasaWeb album—at all, really. So, I began researching other web storage galleries around the web: SmugMug, ZenFolio, Phanfare, etc. They all had pros and cons, but, most noticeably, they were too dang expensive, when compared to Picasa’s super cheap web storage!

The answer, I decided, was to utilize their API and build my own JavaScript-based custom gallery.
What’s Cool About It:

1. AJAX based. No page loads!
2. Store your photo gallery on a custom domain, like “photos.mysite.com”

CSS3 Gallery - CodeCanyon Script

CSS3 Gallery is created by purely using CSS , no images. Its a different idea of web gallery in which your images shows in the screen of a computer LCD .

LCD is also drawn using pure CSS3 . Yes, it is really done using CSS3 no images here as well

Because the use of CSS3 instead of images it loads supper fast in web browsers and can easily changeable. There are 2 versions of gallery small + large.

It works perfect in Mozilla + Chrome + Safari + Opera [Just gradient not working but looks good ] – Ofcourse not in IE yet but I am working on it. Hope you will like it !

Login and Authentication
# Authentication system prevents brute force attacks by using dynamic salts, with the option of also using a file system salt.
# One way password hash uses SHA1 , which is significantly stronger than MD5
# Session hijacking prevented with session management at the db level, which verifies against user agent.
# Sessions expire after 30 mins of inactivity, forcing the user to login again. This is also managed in the db rather than relying on cookies.

Document Security

* The upload folder is not directly accessible via the web, preventing unauthorized access to documents
* Document download requests are handled by the application, which first verifies that a user is authorized to download the document they are requesting.
